I was anxious to read this one because I loved the first one. Full Contact did not disappoint. Slade is fantastic but at times you want to smack him. You get why Jessica is the way she is, once you get her history you fully understand her. Great book, fantastic read.

This is Slade and Jessica's story, and I am more enthralled with Sidney's writing than I was with Against the Cage. The characters in this book are quite a bit stronger and so is the writing. The issue of domestic violence is written well and handled perfectly by the characters. Jessica's feelings and interpretations are spot on. I was delighted that Jessica was never fearful of Slade - despite his build and fighting experience. Slade really showed the type of man he was capable of being by taking care of Jessica after she was released from the hospital. She finally agrees to go out on a date with him so we get to watch the relationship develop. I enjoyed their texts, banter and watching them fall in love. I loved that she found her inner strength. The week before the trial nearly gutted me, but (for the most part) the trial was anticlimactic, Jessica got some much needed closure and support of new found friends. This group of people are people I would want in my life and I'm so glad that Sidney's sharing them with us. This was a fairly quick read and I would recommend it.
This is book 2 of the series, but the first I read of it. Jack & Chrissy (from book 1) play a prominent part & there are references to book 1, but both things are done really well so I didn't feel lost, and it made me want to read their story. Thumbs up for that!
Jessica & Slade's story was mostly very well done. I love their banter & the way they are w/ each other as friends-with-chemistry. They're both interested in each other from the start, and Slade's pursuit of Jessica is very honest. I like that a lot! I love their story.
What I didn't love, and the only thing that kept this from being 5 stars for me, was the "seemingly obligatory breakup portion." This is a trap a lot of stories fall into & it annoys me every single time. I didn't buy the reason behind it, not at that point in the relationship. It was mentioned several times that part of Jessica's personality was she's a straight shooter. Yet, she turned into a completely different kind of character for several chapters, before doing what I felt her character up til then would have done in the first place. I just felt like that part could have been written a little differently & it would have been more believable & less annoying to me.
Now, even w/ that part, I still really enjoyed - and, as I said, LOVED - their story. The epilogue was cute & also, I think, a good set up for the next book. )
I'm reading this series in a round about way. I read the third book first, then the fourth both ARCs then decided I really liked it and went back to the 2nd book. Planning on reading the first this week. I really enjoy this series they are all standalone however after reading the last two first and going back to the second I really see how the characters interconnect in each book.
Onto this book Full Contact it's main characters are Slade and Jess. I'm not sure what happened at the end of book one that Slade is taking care of Jessica at the beginning of book 2. I know her boyfriend beat her and she needed to stay somewhere. Slade took her in... He has been begging her forever to go on a date. She finally relents and says yes.
Jess is not giving in to Slade's manly ways. He has a 'harem" of women coming out of the woodwork to slap him and holler at him.She feels she owes him this date for taking care of her. Little does she know that he wants more than one date.
I loved how he was always trying to protect her and she was always trying to protect him. This tiny little girl is going to protect an MMA fighter. She try's her hardest to keep him out of her crazy life and he's busy trying to keep her safe from her crazy life. There was such a good mix of romance, chemistry, angst, and HEA. I will not lie I did tear up at a certain point in this book, you'll know it when you get there.
Love this story. Slade is the Manwhore of the group. Every time you turn around he's with a different woman. Things change for Slade from the moment he meets Jessica.
With Jessica he has a protective streak a mile wide and she get to him in a way no woman ever has.
Beaten within an inch of her life Jessica feels completely alone. Then Slade walks in and the shadows surrounding her begin to fade. With Slade around her Jessica opens herself to a chance at happiness.
Just when things are going smoothly Jessicas' deranged ex threatens her happiness. The only way she can protect Slade is to give up the love of her life.
This story shows the relationship between Slade and Jessica grew from friendship to something more, deeper. It shows the friendship between all the woman and fighters and gives a hint of the next couple involved. Let the games begin.
